Decanenitrile is a colorless liquid that is soluble in water and alcohols. The compound decanenitrile is used as an intermediate in the production of ethyl decanoate, which can be used to produce polyunsaturated fatty acids such as oleic acid, linoleic acid, and arachidonic acid. Decanenitrile also acts as an aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent for hydrogen fluoride and hydroxyl group compounds.
