Description

1-(2,5-Dimethyl-3-furyl)ethan-1-one is a cyclic ketone that is expressed as a colorless liquid. It has a boiling point of 176°C and can be used as an additive in the production of sodium salts. The molecule has been shown to have an alicyclic structure with three rings, which are connected by one carbon atom each. This compound contains two methyl groups and one ethyl group on the central ring. 1-(2,5-Dimethyl-3-furyl)ethan-1-one exhibits intermolecular hydrogen bonding due to its polarities and fatty acids, which may result in a red shift in the absorption spectrum. 1-(2,5-Dimethyl-3-furyl)ethan-1-one also exhibits hydroxide solution as well as dipole interactions with other molecules such as maltol.
