Dipropyl disulphide (DPD) is a reactive chemical that inhibits the activity of enzymes. This compound has been suggested as a potential alternative to trifluoroacetic acid in the analysis of selenium compounds and other biochemical research. In vitro tests have shown that DPD can reduce high cholesterol levels in humans, and this effect has been confirmed in clinical use. DPD is also used for skin care products for its inhibitory effects on enzymes that produce free radicals, which may cause skin damage.
