3,5-Difluorobenzenesulphonyl chloride is a pharmacokinetic agent that has been shown to be a potent and selective CB1 receptor agonist. It has been shown to activate the cannabinoid receptors in vitro and in vivo, with a higher potency than the endogenous ligand anandamide. 3,5-Difluorobenzenesulphonyl chloride also demonstrated efficacy in animal models of inflammatory pain and osteoarthritis. The activation of the cannabinoid receptors by 3,5-difluorobenzenesulphonyl chloride may be due to its ability to inhibit the enzyme fatty acid amide hydrolase (FAAH), which breaks down anandamide.
