Description

9,10-Dihydroxystearic acid is an ester that can be found in fatty acids. It is a model system for studying the reaction mechanism of ester linkages. 9,10-Dihydroxystearic acid has been shown to have a Michaelis-Menten kinetics with respect to NADPH and cytochrome P450 enzymes. 9,10-Dihydroxystearic acid has been used as an analytical chemistry probe for distinguishing between hepg2 cells and other cell types. 9,10-Dihydroxystearic acid also has magnetic resonance spectroscopy properties that make it an excellent probe for structural analysis.
