2,4-Dichloro phenyl propargyl ether is a chemical that inhibits the enzyme hydroxylase. This enzyme is responsible for the conversion of cinnamic acid to cinnamaldehyde, which is an important intermediate in the synthesis of lignin, a major component of plant cell walls.
