Description :
6,7-Dimethoxy-4-piperazin-1-ylquinazoline is an intermediate for the synthesis of piperazine derivatives. This compound can be synthesized by chlorination of 2-amino-4,5-dimethoxybenzoic acid to give 4,6-dichloro-2-(2'-chloropropyl)quinazoline followed by cyclization with sodium nitrite in aqueous methanol to yield the desired product.
