N,N-Diethylhydroxylamine is a glycol ether that has been used as a radiation stabilizer for polymers and in the synthesis of magnesium salts. It can also be used as an electron donor to activate alkanoic acids. In wastewater treatment, N,N-Diethylhydroxylamine is used to remove nitrogen from water vapor and produce sodium salts. This compound has shown effectiveness against subcutaneous tumors in rats at low doses. The mechanism of action is not clear but may involve the generation of intramolecular hydrogen or the formation of alkanoic acid derivatives that are toxic to tumor cells.
