Description :4,5-Dehydro-L-leucine (DHL) is a chemical compound that can be found naturally in the body. It has been shown to have anticancer properties in vitro and can activate photorhabdus, which are bacteria that infect insects. DHL is also capable of inhibiting acetylation, the process by which proteins are modified with an acetyl group. The ability of DHL to inhibit acetylation may be due to its ability to bind with histone H3 and prevent the acetylation of lysine residues on this protein. DHL has also been shown to inhibit dna replication and induce apoptosis of cancer cells in vitro.
