Description

Diethyl phosphite is a chemical compound that is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals. It has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of prostate cancer cell growth, without exhibiting any cytotoxic effects on non-cancerous cells. This inhibition is attributed to the ability of Diethyl phosphite to form a complex with the hydroxyl group on DNA. The reaction mechanism of this compound involves the formation of a phosphate ester by reacting with trifluoroacetic acid and phosphorus pentoxide. The δ receptors are thought to be involved in this process, which may lead to future therapeutic treatments for prostate cancer that target these receptors and are more selective than Diethyl phosphite.
