1,5-Dihydro-pyrrol-2-one is a chiral compound that is formed by the reaction of chlorine atom and hydrogen bond. The compound has been shown to have anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory activities. It is also used as a prodrug for the treatment of amyloid diseases, such as insulin resistance and chronic kidney disease. 1,5-Dihydro-pyrrol-2-one binds to protease activity, which inhibits the digestion of proteins in the body. It also inhibits inflammation by blocking the production of prostaglandins and leukotrienes that are generated from arachidonic acid. The compound is also known to be an inhibitor of annexin A1 (ANXA1) and natural compounds such as heparin sulfate proteoglycan (HSPG).
