2-(Di-n-propylamino)ethylamine is a potent antimicrobial agent that can be used in the treatment of Staphylococcus infections. It has an inhibitory effect on bacterial growth and is not toxic to mammalian cells. 2-(Di-n-propylamino)ethylamine inhibits cellular uptake by binding to the ligand, which prevents entry into the cell. The compound also inhibits epidermidis, a bacterium that causes skin infections, by catalyzing the monomer to form polymers with a sodium salt as a counter ion. This polymerization process prevents the uptake of 2-(Di-n-propylamino)ethylamine into the cell, leading to its death.
