• Description: Disuccinimidyl suberate is a water-soluble, non-toxic compound that has been used as a cross-linking agent in the preparation of proteins for immunological and biochemical studies. Disuccinimidyl suberate reacts with carboxyl groups of proteins and exhibits chemiluminescence upon hydrolysis. This reaction can be used to measure the amount of protein present in samples. Disuccinimidyl suberate has been shown to inhibit virus growth by interfering with viral membrane fusion. It also inhibits the replication of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) by binding to gp120, which is an envelope glycoprotein on the surface of HIV-1.
