3-(Dimethyloctadecylazaniumyl)propane-1-sulfonate is a perovskite material with a high potential for use in solar cells. This material has been shown to be an effective antibacterial agent, which may be due to its ability to bind to the surface of bacteria and inhibit DNA synthesis. 3-(Dimethyloctadecylazaniumyl)propane-1-sulfonate has also been shown to have pro-inflammatory cytokine effects in fibroblast cells. The nanotube form of this compound has also been shown to have anti-fouling properties and can be used as a drug delivery vehicle.
