Description

The diamide insecticides are a group of chemicals that act as neurotoxins. They interfere with the normal function of the ryanodine receptor, which is a type of ion channel found in skeletal muscle cells. 2,3-Dihydro-1H-indole-6-carboxylic acid methyl ester has been shown to be an effective insecticide against both invertebrates and vertebrates. It works by binding to the ryanodine receptor and blocking its activation. This prevents the release of calcium ions from the sarcoplasmic reticulum, which leads to paralysis and eventual death. 2,3-Dihydro-1H-indole-6-carboxylic acid methyl ester is a bicyclic heterocyclic compound with two benzene rings fused together at one point. Although it is not very toxic to mammals, it does show some degree of toxicity in insects when ingested or contacted with skin.
