Description :3,4-Dihydro-1H-isochromene-1-carboxylic acid is a pyridine derivative that has been used as an intermediate in the synthesis of other compounds. 3,4-Dihydro-1H-isochromene-1-carboxylic acid is a weak acid that can be prepared by the reaction of 3,4-dihydroisoquinoline with chloroform and hydrochloric acid. It is also synthesized from 1,4 benzodioxane and phenylacetic acid. This compound has been used to prepare amides, amidines, and ureas. 3,4-Dihydroisoquinoline is also used as a precursor for the synthesis of pyridinium salts.
