Description

4,13-Diaza-18-crown 6-ether belongs to the class of crown ethers. It is a synthetic compound that has been shown to form stable complexes with metal ions such as copper and sodium. 4,13-Diaza-18-crown 6-ether has been shown to be effective in treating urinary tract infections, and it is also used as a membrane system for separation of organic compounds. 4,13-Diaza-18-crown 6-ether has been shown to have a transport rate through membranes that is 10 times faster than traditional crown ethers. This rate can be increased by adding metal hydroxides or salts such as sodium chloride or potassium chloride.
