2,7-Dibromo-9,9-dimethylfluorene is a molecule that has a photophysical and photochemical properties. It is known to be a centrosymmetric molecule with an ionization potential of 5.3 eV and vinyl groups. The compound can undergo cross-coupling reactions with diarylamines and naphthalene to produce biphenyls. 2,7-Dibromo-9,9-dimethylfluorene's nmr spectra show parameters that are characteristic of biphenyls. This molecule has been used as a photovoltaic material at temperatures below 100K.
