Description

3,5-Dichlorobenzylamine is a antibiotic that inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. It can be used to treat bacterial infections of the skin and mucous membranes caused by Staphylococcus aureus. 3,5-Dichlorobenzylamine binds to the 50S ribosomal subunit and inhibits protein synthesis in bacteria by blocking the attachment of aminoacyl transfer RNA (tRNA) molecules to their corresponding mRNA codons on the ribosome. The compound also inhibits diacylglycerol production, which leads to reduced formation of inflammatory mediators such as prostaglandins and leukotrienes. 3,5-Dichlorobenzylamine has been shown to have prognostic value for inflammatory bowel disease patients with a high degree of sensitivity and specificity.
