Description :
1,3-Dichloro-2-iodobenzene is a sterically bulky molecule that has been shown to bind to two different functional groups on the same biomolecule. The molecule binds to ethylene at one end and the phenyl group at the other end. This type of binding is called interdigitated binding and is stepwise in nature. This ligand can also bind to sulfonic acids or benzyl groups. It has also been shown to be an effective ligand for palladium-catalyzed coupling reactions.
