Description

2,2'-Dihydroxychalcone is a drug that has an exothermic reaction with water and is amorphous. This product is used as a photocatalyst in wastewater treatment, where it converts organic substances into carbon dioxide and water. 2,2'-Dihydroxychalcone binds to the DNA of cells and inhibits their proliferation. It also has an antiproliferative effect on prostate cancer cells, inducing cellular senescence. 2,2'-Dihydroxychalcone also improves energy efficiency by acting as a proton donor for hydrogen production during photosynthesis in some plant species. This compound acts as a chalcone and flavonoid precursor.
