Description

2,6-Dibromohydroquinone is a chemical compound that belongs to the class of hydroquinones. It has been shown to have antioxidant properties and can be used as a reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenger. 2,6-dibromohydroquinone has also been shown to have an inhibitory effect on drug reactions in humans and rats, which may be due to its ability to bind with reactive molecules such as ROS. The compound has also been shown to inhibit the binding of reactive oxygen species with proteins, lipids, and DNA. 2,6-Dibromohydroquinone has been investigated for its use in clinical settings including cardioprotection and prevention of reperfusion injury following heart attack. This compound is also used in sample preparation for the analysis of human liver catalase activity by spectrophotometry.
