Description :5,7-Dimethylisatin is an organic compound with a molecular formula of C9H10N2O2. It is a heterocyclic molecule that can be obtained by the reaction of cisplatin with cinchonidine. 5,7-Dimethylisatin has been shown to have cytotoxic effects on leukemia cells and inhibits cellular growth in vitro. This compound also crystallizes from water as a white solid and has been synthesized using 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition. The nitrogen atom in this molecule is resistant to oxidation and can be used for the synthesis of other compounds. This substance also luminesces in a blue color when irradiated with UV light.
