Description :2,5-Dimethylacetophenone is an alcohol with a chiral center. It is synthesized by reacting chlorinating agents with the ligand periconia, which leads to high yield and regiospecificity. The product is obtained as a mixture of two stereoisomers (R and S) with the R form being more abundant than the S form due to steric effects.2,5-Dimethylacetophenone has been shown to react with naphthylamine in the presence of a base to give N-(2,5-dimethylphenyl)naphthalene-1,4-diamine in good yield.
