3,6-Dihydro-2H-pyran is a compound with the formula CHOP. It is a structural analog of pyran that can be produced by cross-coupling reactions of epoxides and amines. This compound is also used in the synthesis of oxetanes, which are useful as solid catalysts for polymerization reactions. 3,6-Dihydro-2H-pyran has a variety of functional groups and can be activated with acid or base to produce esters, ethers or amides. It is also soluble in liquid crystals and has been studied for its effect on the liquid crystal composition. 3,6-Dihydro-2H-pyran is an important component of PC12 cells and may play a role in its function.
