3-Dehydrotrametenolic acid (3DTA) is a natural product that has been shown to have significant effects in the treatment of cancer. 3DTA binds to the enzyme glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH), which is involved in glycolysis, and inhibits its activity. This inhibition leads to a decrease in cellular ATP levels and an accumulation of reactive oxygen species, resulting in apoptosis. 3DTA also has anti-inflammatory properties by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins. 3DTA is able to bind to β-amyloid plaques, preventing their aggregation and preventing further plaque formation.
