4,6-Dichlorobenzo[d]thiazol-2-amine is a luminescent chemical that is used as a reagent in organic synthesis. It has been shown to be active against gram-negative bacteria. 4,6-Dichlorobenzo[d]thiazol-2-amine binds to the benzodiazepine receptor and inhibits the growth cycle of gram-negative bacteria by preventing their ability to make fatty acids. 4,6-Dichlorobenzo[d]thiazol-2-amine also reacts with nitro groups and polyester surfaces, which are found in flocculating agents such as polyesters and oxylipins, which are produced by rat brain cells.
