3',3'-Difluoro-3'-Deoxythymidine is an anti-HIV drug that belongs to the group of nucleoside analogues. It is a synthetic nucleoside analogue that is structurally similar to thymidine. 3',3'-Difluoro-3'-Deoxythymidine has been shown to inhibit HIV replication in cell culture, and has shown a low incidence of resistance development. 3',3'-Difluoro-3'-Deoxythymidine inhibits HIV by competitively binding to viral reverse transcriptase, thereby blocking its activity and preventing the production of viral DNA. This drug also inhibits cellular RNA synthesis, which may be due to its inhibition of purine synthesis.
