Di(phenyl)iodonium tetrafluoroborate is a reactive cationic compound that can be used in a variety of chemical reactions. It reacts with carbonyl groups and hydroxyl groups, which are found in many organic compounds. Di(phenyl)iodonium tetrafluoroborate is also able to react with diazonium salts. The thermal expansion coefficient of this compound is large, and the melting point is high. Di(phenyl)iodonium tetrafluoroborate is not stable in the presence of oxygen or moisture and cannot be stored for longer than 2 weeks. This compound does not react with dental materials. Density measurements have been made using magnetic resonance spectroscopy on this compound, which has been shown to have a low density.
