7-Ethyl-tryptophol is the major product of a liquid chromatography method that is used to separate and identify compounds. 7-Ethyl-tryptophol is an organic compound that has been found in natural sources such as plants, fungi, and bacteria. It can also be synthesized by a Friedel-Crafts reaction between benzoyl chloride and trimethyl orthoformate. 7-Ethyl-tryptophol has been shown to have kinetic properties, with a rate constant of 0.5 min−1 at 25 °C. The activation energies for the forward and reverse reactions are 10.2 kcal/mol and 9.8 kcal/mol respectively.
