Description :
2-Ethyl toluene is a solvent that is used in wastewater treatment. It is a low energy extractant and can be used as an interactive effect. In the presence of iron oxides, 2-ethyl toluene induces a Friedel-Crafts reaction with fatty acids to produce a mixture of alkenes. This mixture has been shown to have light emission properties and can be used as a model system for metal corrosion.
