Ethyl isobutyrylacetate is a methyl ketone that belongs to the chemical group of glycol ethers. Ethyl isobutyrylacetate has been used in the fabrication of ester compounds and as an active ingredient in cosmetics. It also has antioxidant properties, which may be due to its reaction with free radicals produced during the process of frying. In addition, ethyl isobutyrylacetate reacts with radiation energy and sodium hydroxide solution to form chlorides, which can be used as a raw material for pharmaceutical products. Ethyl isobutyrylacetate is also a competitive inhibitor for tyrosinase activity, which can be used for the treatment of hyperpigmentation disorders such as melasma and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
