Description :
2-Ethylhexylchloroformate is a reactive chloroformate ester that is used in the synthesis of polymers. It has low toxicity to humans and animals, but high toxicity to cells in culture. 2-Ethylhexylchloroformate is not expected to be an irritant to humans or animals because it does not react with proteins in the skin. It reacts with water by hydrolysis to form ethanol and hydrogen chloride gas, which is corrosive and irritating when inhaled.
