Ecabet sodium is a mucosal antibiotic that belongs to the group of antimicrobial agents. It is used in the treatment of eye disorders, bowel disease, and mitochondrial membrane potential. Ecabet sodium has been shown to have an activity index against a wide range of bacteria and fungi. This drug also has an inhibitory effect on the enzyme activity of benzalkonium chloride and toll-like receptor. Ecabet sodium is stable in aqueous solutions at pH 7 but undergoes hydrolysis at pH 2 or less.
