It has been shown to be effective against copper and iron in nutrient solutions. This compound also has the ability to maintain stable complexes with both nitrogen atoms and sodium salts. 2,2'-(Ethane-1,2-diylbis(azanediyl))bis(2-(2-hydroxyphenyl)acetic acid) may be used for imaging purposes (e.g., x-ray crystal structures), as well as for plasma mass spectrometry.
