Ethyl 2-(2-bromophenyl)acetate is a chemical compound that is synthesized by the reaction of ethyl acetate with bromoethane and copper(II) chloride. Its major use is as an inhibitor for lipases. It has been shown to be effective against several lipases, including pancreatic lipase, human leukocyte elastase, and porcine pancreatic lipase. This compound also inhibits the growth of cells in culture by binding to the substrate binding site on the enzyme and preventing it from performing its catalytic activity.
