Description

Ethyl 11-ethoxycarbonyldodecanoate is a nonpolar solvent with a viscosity of 0.8 mm2/s at 25°C. It is soluble in organic solvents such as chloroform, benzene, and carbon tetrachloride. Ethyl 11-ethoxycarbonyldodecanoate has been used as a hydrogen bond donor in the synthesis of polycarboxylic acids and as a solid catalyst for the polymerization of diacids. It also undergoes intramolecular hydrogenation to form dodecanedioic acid, which can be used to synthesize polyesters and polycarbonates. In addition, ethyl 11-ethoxycarbonyldodecanoate can be used in chemical reactions such as esterification and transesterification reactions. The activation energy for these reactions is low because the reaction products are stable due to the absence of reactive functional groups on ethyl 11-
