Description

Ethyl 2-hydroxymethylacrylate is a monomer that belongs to the class of methacrylates. It reacts with allyl chloride and azides to form an organometallic compound, which can be used as a synthon for other types of monomers. Ethyl 2-(hydroxymethyl)acrylate undergoes stereoselective reactions with nucleophiles such as amines and alkene. In addition, it is copolymerized with unsaturated ketones to form polymers.
