Description

Ethyl 5,6-dimethylnicotinate is a monomer that has been used as a filler in dental fillings. It is volatile and can be monitored by headspace gas chromatography. This compound also reacts with chloride to form ethyl chloride and benzoate, which are environmental pollutants. Ethyl 5,6-dimethylnicotinate is used as an additive in the production of polymeric materials, including fibre. It is not toxic but it is combustible and should be handled with care.
