Description

Ethyl 2-chloropropionate is an organic compound that is used in the synthesis of other compounds. It is a colorless liquid with a characteristic smell. Ethyl 2-chloropropionate has been shown to be a nucleophilic, aromatic hydrocarbon that reacts with electrophiles such as copper chloride and ethyl formate. This reaction forms the corresponding chloroethanol and methylformate. The reaction of ethyl 2-chloropropionate with diphenyl ether produces a chloroethyl ether derivative. This product can inhibit some enzymes, including epoxide hydrolase, which plays an important role in the metabolism of drugs such as ibuprofen and diclofenac.
