• Description: 6-Epidoxycycline hydrochloride is a synthetic antibiotic that is prepared by the condensation of divinylbenzene and 6-aminopenicillanic acid. It has been found to have good antibacterial activity against Gram-positive bacteria. 6-Epidoxycycline hydrochloride has also been shown to be active against Gram-negative bacteria, but not as potent as other antibiotics in this class. The compound has been found to be stable in plasma and urine samples, but can react with acetonitrile. This reaction can lead to impurities that interfere with the analysis of the sample by chromatography.
