3-Ethoxyacrylonitrile is a metal salt that is used to synthesize acrylonitrile. It can be prepared by the reaction of potassium sulfate with acetonitrile and palladium chloride in the presence of iodides. The compound can also be prepared by alkylation of 3-methoxyacrylate with an alkali metal, such as sodium or potassium, in the presence of an alkali metal chloride. This process produces 3-ethoxyacrylonitrile in high yield.
