Ethyl isonicotinoylacetate (EIA) is a triazole derivative which has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It was originally synthesized as an oxime derivative of acetylsalicylic acid, but was found to have a number of other interesting properties. The molecule has a redox potential that can be varied by the addition of substituents. EIA has also been shown to inhibit casein kinase, which may be important in the treatment of autoimmune diseases. This compound is fluorescent and can be used with fluorescence techniques to study cardiovascular disease.
