Ethyl hydrazine oxalate is an amide compound that has been shown to be active in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease. It also has antiviral potency against HIV and influenza A viruses, as well as inhibiting the growth of bacteria. The pharmacological activities of ethyl hydrazine oxalate are due to its ability to inhibit b-Raf, a protein kinase that is important for cell proliferation. Ethyl hydrazine oxalate inhibits the binding of the pyrazole group to the CCR5 receptor on T cells, which prevents HIV from entering them.
