Description :Ethyl 2-phenylbutyrate is a synthetic, non-steroidal compound that has been shown to inhibit the activity of cyclooxygenase enzymes. The compound is synthesized by reacting cyclopentyl bromide with an alkyl halide, followed by treatment with an alkanoic acid. The enantiomers of ethyl 2-phenylbutyrate can be separated by chromatography or by crystallization. This chemical is soluble in benzene and ether, but not in water.
