• Description: 2-Ethyl-6-methylphenol is a high molecular weight, synthetic compound that is used as a fungicide. It has been shown to cause damage to plants by inhibiting the oxidative transfer of electrons from one molecule to another. 2-Ethyl-6-methylphenol has also been shown to be carcinogenic in animals and humans. This compound is metabolized by ammonolysis and alkylation reactions, forming the corresponding amine and dialdehyde metabolites.
