Ethyl 2-amino-4-phenylthiazole-5-carboxylate is a nitrogenous heterocyclic compound. It has been shown to have antileukaemic activity and can be used as an antineoplastic agent. The IC50 values of ethyl 2-amino-4-phenylthiazole-5-carboxylate for human cells are in the range of 0.3-2.0 μM, depending on the cell type and exposure time. It inhibits protein synthesis by binding to ribosomal RNA. This drug also has a toxicological effect on human cells, which may be due to its ability to induce conductivity changes or inhibit cellular metabolism.
