Bromoacetyl is a synthetic molecule that can be used to inhibit the activity of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and its receptor, VEGFR-2. Bromoacetyl has been shown to inhibit endothelial cell proliferation, migration, and tube formation in vitro. It also inhibits angiogenesis in vivo. Bromoacetyl inhibits VEGF-induced activation of VEGFR-2 by binding to the ATP site on the receptor. Bromoacetyl has been shown to have minimal side effects in animal studies and is a potential drug for the treatment of diseases such as cancer and cardiovascular disease.
