• Description: 1-Ethyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrachloroferrate is an optical, ferrimagnetic solid that has a phase transition temperature of -1 °C. It is a monomer and is soluble in organic solvents. It can be used in mediated reactions, such as the polymerization of acrylic acid, which produces polyacrylic acid. 1-Ethyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrachloroferrate can be used to make anions or it can be photoactivated with ultraviolet light or electron beam radiation to produce hydrostatic pressure on a liquid phase. This solid also has two polymorphs: one with a low temperature and acidic properties and one with a high temperature and basic properties.
