1-Ethyl-3-methylimidazolium Methanesulfonate is a salt that is soluble in water, ethanol, and acetone. It has an acidic pH of 1.5 to 2.5, and has been shown to have solute properties with a solubility data range of 0.072 to 3.0 g/L at 25 degrees Celsius when dissolved in water or acetone. It has been shown to inhibit enzyme activities such as beta-lactamase, beta-galactosidase, alpha-chymotrypsin, and beta-glucosidase at concentrations between 1 and 100 mM. The frequency shift for this compound is high (1 kHz) with a low light response and high values for water vapor and hydrogen bond frequencies.
